In Memory of Betty Lou Blankenship

Greetings Welch High School Class of 1954
Hello my name is Nita Clark Grattan. I am here today to dedicate this page to a Very Special person my Mom. Some of you knew her some of you didn't. Her name was Betty Lou Blankenship. She was in the Class of 54'. She just loved West Virginia. And was so proud to say she was in the Class of 54'. My Mom passed away on March 15, 1999 which also falls on my Dad's birthday. If she knew that Welch High School was online she would of been so tickled.

Betty Lou Blankenship Clark
They just don't make year books like this one anymore

Betty was born on January 4, 1936 in a little town call Havaco County West Va. She was one of six kids. Her father worked in the coal mines and her mother was a house wife. I believe she was the middle child. She got her first job when she was 14 years old. She met Bill Clark when she was 17 years old and was married to him at 18 years old. They moved from West Va. because he was in the Army. They moved to several states before they became residents of Virginia. There they had 5 kids. All 5 kids still live in Virginia along with their Dad. She has 8 grandchildren. Betty loved kids and she was good at being a grandmother. She also loved the Dallas Cowboys and Dale Earnhardt (Bad taste on that driver). My Mom: She meant the world to me but it took losing her to know that all she had taught me and all she meant to me was not cherished like it should of been when she was living. I have so many regrets that I only can live with now. But I must say, she was a very strong lady and I know now where I get my strength from. Thank you Mom.......I miss you......
